Soccer

Soccer is the ultimate game for many children, and a rite of passage for a parent to teach their child. Simple but fun, preparing a child for the world of soccer and their first soccer match is a highlight in the eyes of most proud parents.
Of course, before it is time for the congratulatory ice creams after a match first one has to teach their child the basic rules of soccer and get them their first official ball. The fact that soccer only requires a ball can make it seem like an easy match to prepare for, but keep in mind that the soccer ball is thus the most influential piece of the game. Therefore, proper attention should be paid to finding the perfect ball for your child and not just grabbing the first Ballsport item on the shelf. Before heading out to the store it is useful to know what to look for in a proper soccer ball. The child’s age, height, regulation team ball/match ball, and primary position should all be a proper consideration. This is because given the child’s height their league may have preset standards for their age group and soccer ball choices and it is best to replicate these. After all, if the child has to use a size 4 ball in their regular match, but practices with a size 5 ball their entire position and skills may be thrown out of sorts.
After choosing a size proper for their soccer age and team rules, the next thing to think about is if the soccer ball will be used predominantly for striking or for practice heading. Harder soccer balls are made out of butyl bladders and softer balls are made out of latex bladders which can increase or simplify the use of the soccer ball depending on what the child intends to use it for. PVC is also an excellent choice for a child who is often in youth soccer matches keeping in mind that a soccer match that takes place in cold temperatures will make the ball feel ever harder.
Finally, after choosing a soccer ball that appears to meet match regulations and fit the child, the last step is to give it a test run. A few soft kicks in the store aisle and it can quickly be ascertained if the ball is a good match for the child or if there is something a little off. If the child seems perfectly comfortable then chances are the best soccer ball has just been found!
